Another Newborn...Fargo Newborn Photography

I had the pleasure of driving out to Argusville to meet little Mr. Newborn here.  His momma was a tough cookie marathon runner who settled for running the 5k at the Fargo Marathon.  Still though, 3.1 miles 9 months prego can not be easy.  

This little guy even though just a few days old never really settled down into a deep sleep while I was there.  He was not too happy with me when I would try and position his little body.  He gave us enough sleeping though to get some good ones.

  

 

 

 

 

 

So remember that client of mine who I said should open up a store on Etsy to sell her creativity.  She had made several things for this newborn.  She makes these awesome crib mobiles...and customizes the colors for babies room...

 

And she made this letter for his room as well.....

 

And she made the little blanket with the tags he is lying on in this picture...

 

She also make those little ties that the baby boys I have been taking pictures of wear...

We ended the session on a perfect note...thanks for the goodbye smile..

My First Picture

From our first weekend at our new to us cabin.....

 

I think the picture pretty much says it all.  We loved it!! And we can not wait to go back!  It is very grounding to sit and watch a sunset over a lake with your husband or sit and watch birds fly and chirp while swinging with a sweet daughter in your lap.  These are going to be some of our best times as a family:) I bet when I am 80 sitting in that swing I will remember our first weekend there and how my Ella sat in my lap all that time with me.  It was just totally the sweetness of life...and the best part!  I get to go back and do it over and over and over again:)

Sometimes despite our best efforts at trying to get them...

Some babies take a little longer to get here.  I literally can not think of a better person to be a mom than my amazing friend Heather from PT school.  It was a long road, but I am sure she agrees that these two little miracles were worth the wait.  How amazing it is going to feel for these two peanuts growing up that their parents wanted them so badly.  An amazing sense of value and belonging just by the journey of getting here.

These babies arrived a little more than 2 months ago and really are huge for twins.  She carried them full term and they were both over seven pounds...and I am thinking almost 8 (Heather correct me if I am wrong)  Can you imagine almost 16 pounds of baby in your tummy and Heather is a very small lady so it is amazing they stayed in so long.

Heather and her husband, Chris, drove up from Bismarck for their photo shoot so they were a little late for a newborn session, but we had the whole afternoon to shoot so we were able to get sleepy images of both babies....Here they are...a girl and a boy.

It was no easy task I tell you to get two 2 month old babies sleeping and together for a picture.  I tried them in a bunch of different positions laying on each other and such, but every time I laid one on the other some squawking occurred, so I settled for them just laying next to each other...I am getting tired just remembering the work that went into this shot..

 

Seriously...I mean seriously, look at those eyelashes...(girl)

 

Just another perspective on those long, dark, yummy lashes...

 

And the beautiful little boy....also...Heather's family, I do not care what you say, he looks like a Romanick!!

 

 

He was also given the gift of distinctive lashes...you should see their daddy!!

 

Oh my goodness another one together...the trial and tribulations of photographing the two of them together::::sigh:::::  At first I had them on top of each other non swaddled, but they just kept kicking and hitting each other, then one would cry, then the other would cry, then we would have to get them settled down.  I swaddled them tighter than the picture, but being two months they were wiggling right out of their cocoons...so this picture was not exactly what I had in mind, but I think it has good potential for a future picture with real newborn twins....

 

 

 

This is her again taking a little snooze on mommy's shoulder after a nummylicious milk break...

 

 

Congratulations Heather and Chris.  You guys are going to be (are) awesome parents.  Much better than I would ever dream of being:)  I can not wait to see your babies grow and change and witness the development of their unique personalities.  Will they be smart, kind, caring, and articulate like their mommy or be strikingly handsome like their daddy.  Knowing the two of you one will probably be a humanitarian working as a doctor in a third world country and the other the next president.  Either way, I know that they are two of the luckiest little peanuts out there.

p.s.  just a tiny sneak peak of another newborn before I go for the weekend...I will be gone most weekends now as the hubby and I will become proud owners of a lake place tomorrow near Pelican Rapids..which by the way will be amazing in the fall with trees and leaves and I am hoping some of you folk decide to come for pictures up at my cabin..anyway  have a GREAT weekend!

Thank you little boy for volunteering to be the boss of our little session.  Your creative ideas were fantastic and made for some of my favorite images....

Twin Baby Mini | Fargo Photographer

A twin baby mini...I shot two sets of twins last week and here is the first......not quite sitting yet twins with Mr. Smiley and Mrs. Serious...

 

 

 

 

 

He obviously got the memo on the tie thing too...I would like to send out another memo then since this one was so popular on little girls with knee high socks.  I should really do it with mine since I have two of them, but I really want to shoot a little girl in knee high socks.

For picture taking purposes...let's call them wildflowers.  Wild flowers as the backdrop for an intimate moment between mommy and daughter make for one awesome picture..

Shooting Schedule for Babies...| Fargo Children's Photography

I get asked alot what I recommend in terms of when to shoot babies the first year and now that I have been doing this a while I do have an opinion and thought I would share...

1.  Firstly do newborn shots for sure....and when I say newborn I mean within the first two weeks.  In my eyes, a 6 week old is no longer a newborn and you will not get the same type of images with a 6 week or 2 month old as you will with a newborn.

2.  Skip the three month pictures...yikes...did I just write that for real??  But yes, I do mean it.  Especially if you got newborn pics wait for the next set.  3 month olds can be a challenge.  You have to rely on newborn positioning still for this age, but yet they do not want to be placed in a newborn position.  I don't blame them!  Newborns are so good at being squished into little places and curled up so nicely because they just came from a very tight space so they actually find comfort in it.  3 month olds have spent three months being able to stretch so they really want very little part of it.

3.  For sure do pictures once your baby is sitting well...this may be 6 months, but for some babies it may be as late as 8 months.  These will be awesome pictures in a variety of positions your baby will be able to hold themselves in and they will still look like a baby. This age also generally are happy and give variety with expressions as well.

4.  9 month pictures...I am kinda take it or leave it on this one.  Crawling pictures are adorable, but chances are you may still be able to get one of those at 1 year pictures anyway...

5.  1 year pics...Of course, yes!  You can not miss this one.  I warn you though, by one year old, they already stop looking like babies.  Especially those boys who have already gotten their first haircut really already look like toddlers and not babies.  That is why that 6 month pictures are so important. 

Well, there you have it...my thoughts on the first year baby picture schedule...in a condensed version..

Newborn=YES

3 Month=NO

6 Month=YES

9 Month=Maybe

1 year= YES

Here is a newborn I shot last week who is on the right track..I got to try out my new green blankie with her...I am loving how her chin is resting on her hand..

 

 

 

 

Oh this next shot...It really does not seem that hard I know, but boy did we have to work for this.  We almost gave up a couple time..I think mom thought I was nuts as I think she was ready to hang up the towel long before I was, but we finally got it...

Holy Baby Minis... Fargo Baby Photographer

I have had a truck load of baby minis recently so I just thought I would share a few of my favorites from each session in one big post.....Also, Just FYI, August is full now too so email me if you would like a fall appointment.  I am also thinking about what I am going to do for December, but I likely will not be shooting anything that month of December except newborns if there is a need.  My experience last December is that it is too cold to go outside and the Plains Art Museum has lots of holiday events going on.

OK, onto the good stuff...

She is the little girl on my website splash page and when I saw she had a white hat with white baby legs I knew I wanted her up on my bed to do a white on white on white thing!

 

 

 

 

 

We took her off the bed for a few.  This is a green blanket that her mommy had...Isn't it pretty!

 

 

And this next little mister has grown so much since his newborn pictures.  It is crazy how much they grow in 6 months.  And I just have to say I have never seen a 6 month old be such a goot ball EVER!!  He grunted and groaned the whole time making everyone laugh and wiggled a ton.  I was surprised there was an in focus picture in the bunch.  He also did the funniest thing with sticking his whole hand in a  fisted position in his mouth and gagging...and then going right back to it. 

 

 

They obviously got the memo on the tie with a naked baby I suggested a while back.  This little guys creative auntie made him the tie.  I keep telling her she should open up a store on Etsy to sell all her creativity.

And finally this sweet little Mrs..who's parents found out she had her first ear infection the next day.  She just was not herself during our little time, but she still looks adorable...

It was such a perfect session and although it can be a challenge to get a one year old in a sibling picture the task was not quite so difficult with this one.  He was just so agreeable to whatever.
